Synopsis

Two woman pensioners loudly complain about the too harsh approach of ticket inspectors to their repeated free rides in the office of the Transportation Office of the City of Prague. A death notice of the young inspector Jirka Málek is on the notice board. He died while running away from a violent gang headed by the cruel Zobák – he fell from a roof. The ticket inspector Čenda is not prepared to accept the gang’s rampages. Its members terrorize the passengers, they never buy tickets and make the inspectors’ work impossible. Several of Čenda’s colleagues have already resigned the meritable but underestimated profession. The young man convinces Miloš, Mirek, Jindra, Milan, Kamil and Vilém to seek revenge for Jirka Málek’s death together. They unburden themselves to each other about the hard life of a ticket inspector who has no home, no kids, no parties or theatre visits, and then set off, “armed” with their inspector's badges. Zobák’s gang first takes them by surprise on line seven. But the inspectors return and the gang is paralysed with the help of Čenda’s brother – a police captain and his men. The inspectors, however, did not do it for themselves; they are rewarded by the feeling that the passengers have won.
