A girl is in bed drinking a beer in an unappealing room. A gasworker interrupts her. He has come to cut off her gas but the girl refuses to let him in, as that would leave her with nowhere to make her soup. She finally opens the door, pointing out that she will anyway saw the lead seal off the gas meter. The gasworker assures her that this time she won't manage to do that, as the seal is made of an exceptionally strong lead alloy. When he leaves, the girl sees for herself that he was right. She calls the chemist who lives next door to help her. The chemist brings some acid, which the girl uses to corrode the seal. In the end, the electrician shows up and cuts off her electricity without more ado.
