The story of the reconstruction of the photography studio Seidel in Český Krumlov in South Bohemia and the rediscovery of a unique collection of 140,000 historical photographs becomes not only the impetus for telling the eventful life story of two photographers – father and son, but also leads to a revival of the Czech-German dialogue, to the present examination of distant lives and an extinct culture. This leads to general contemplation on photography that isn't just a historical testimony, but also a means of experience and recollection. – Two versions of the film made.
