Mr. Wild seems like a quiet and defenceless pensionioner - a hen-pecked husband. His ear doctor, who defies his two partners, however, understands that this isn't quite so. The doctor only considers letting Mrs. Wild in on the truth about her husband, but then realizes that his patient would lose his only defence and sanctuary.
