Synopsis

A drama about a famous actor who, while studying the role of Hamlet, begins to think that Yorick's skull is that of his one-time friend and rival in love; this suggestion excites him so much so that he becomes ill. After his seemingly successful recovery in a santorium, he again returns to work. During a performance of Othello his psychological illness returns and, before the audience's very eyes, he strangles his wife, who is playing Desdemona. (According to an article appearing in the press at the time the film was made.)
