Synopsis

"Mařenka loves Jeník who smokes and drinks too much, weaknesses which are slowly killing him. The neighbour Toník doesn't drink, and doesn't smoke, but he eats sugar which makes him strong. When Jeník finds out that eating sugar will make him strong, he stops drinking and smoking and – now strong from eating sugar – he marries Mařenka. After some time Jeník tells his son about the whole process of sugar production." (Contents taken from censorship documents.)
