A man stands on the bridge throwing money into the river. He invites the curious onlookers who gather around him to join in. After a moment's hesitation, they finally do so. Only two of them, a young woman and Mr Kučera, refuse his invitation. They do not understand why they should do such a thing. But the man would not take "no" for an answer. He shows them using examples from their own lives how they squander money out of their own pockets through carelessness. Mr Kučera called a plumber to fix his bath. The plumber spent most of the day in the pub but still charged for the entire morning's work, and Mr Kučera paid for it. The young woman, on the other hand, paid an express surcharge for cleaning her skirt, but the skirt was not ready on time so that, in effect, she spent more money than was necessary. After these examples the man advises the consumers how to protect themselves from everyday theft.
