The first Slovak-Czech coproduction was made after this two separate states had been constituted into existence. A psychological drama about the devastating passion of Anežka and Kryštof who tried to get some happiness in the midst of war marasmus somewhere in the inhospitable Galicia. The impressive picture of this strong and rough relationship without romantic idealization seems to be the only counterpoise to the cruel time full of violence and suffering.
