The only employee of a small press agency, the secretary Jiřina Zvoníčková, decides to help her good-natured but ill-fated boss, Brok. In order to secure an interview with the inaccessible "king of fashion" Pavel Toman, she dresses as a young man and gets a job with Toman's company as an errand boy. She gets her interview and other valuable information about Toman. One day, however, Toman sees Jiřina in a café in her female form. She is quick to reply that the errand boy Jiří is her brother. During a company party, errand boy Jiří finds out that Mary, a designer, is secretly photographing new models for a competition. Caught in the act, Mary puts the blame on Jiří who is now revealed to be a girl. Toman sacks Jiřina on the spot and is vexed about what to do since he has now fallen in love with her. On her way out, Jiřina is at least able to give the traitor Mary a good slap. When Jiřina's innocence is proved, Toman asks for forgiveness and also for her hand in marriage.
