Summary

Jan Jelínek's film Český cinematography 1970 takes stock of what happened in Czech cinema during the year 1970 in twelve minutes. It takes us behind the scenes of the making or preparation of several feature films, documentaries, and animated films. In this context, it commemorates the 25th anniversary of the end of the Second World War, the approaching 50th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia, as well as the anniversaries of directors such as the 70th birthday of Hermína Týrlová or the 60th birthday of Karel Zeman. The last few shots are dedicated to the 17th International Film Festival in Karlovy Vary, which was also visited by the President of the Republic Ludvík Svoboda.

Bohuslav Musil is editing documentaries from domestic and foreign archival material. Pravoslav Flak records catchy songs for TV series Haldy in the Ostrava radio studio. Rudolf Krejčík documents the life of African people. Jan Špáta made another of his original films, this time a documentary about a blind climber called Svítí slunce? Vladimír Čech will treat the Protectorate period in the drama The Key. For the upcoming 50th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia, the documentaries A tady žila by Jaroslav Šikl or film called Klement Gottwald by Drahoslav Holub are being made at the Short Film. In 1970, Karel Zeman celebrated his 60th birthday and received congratulations and gifts from his colleagues in the studio.
