The films storyline starts out in an almost banal manner: A man goes for a walk with his father. Seemingly the only thing that joins these two men is the fact that they meet once a month for a walk through Prague. Nevertheless, they are bound together by more than forty years of a shared life. Their brilliantly directed dialogue reveals the history of the twentieth century, including all the absurdities associated with it, digging down to the deepest places of human relationships. Old debts, sufferings, and joys are revealed. And some mistakes are repeated again and again.
