The workman Novák leaves every Saturday after payday to go to the pub where he drinks through all his money and loses at cards. One day, after coming home, he reads his son's homework about a profligate rich man who finds himself destitute and about a poor boy who, with dilligence and thrift, works his way to wealth. This story touches the father and he promises his son that he will start to save his money instead.
