Six-year old Magdalena cannot have her sleep out. Today is her first day at school. Her dad is still asleep but her mum has had to get up and take care of Magdalena's baby brother. In the meantime, the little girl washes and dresses herself. Her mum knows that Magdalena can already look after herself and lets her go to school alone. The girl doesn't lose her way in the crowd of children and quickly finds her class. Other mothers bring in their first-formers. A little boy called Kamil sits next to Magdalena. He is quietly swallowing tears. The teacher meets the children and the first day of school passes quickly. Magdalena is getting ready to go back home. Then she notices Kamil standing in front of the school. He is crying again. The little girl feels sorry for the boy. She takes him by the hand and goes with him to his home. She makes plans to meet him the next day before school. Kamil is smiling happily.
