Synopsis

The artist Vojir seeks inspiration at a spring exhibition for his new painting. He chooses the poor young girl Lojzka as a model, who falls in love with him. Lojzka is at first wary of the older man who watches her but she does not realise that he is the artist's patron. One day the rich factory owner Trnka comes to the studio with his wife and he wants to buy the new painting from Vojir. The artist, however, does not want to sell it so Trnka commissions a portrait of his wife. Vojir falls in love with the beautiful wife and Lojzka becomes jealous. After the death of her mother Lojzka accepts an offer from the artist's patron Molnar for her to come and live with him. After some time Lojzka comes of age by which time she is a famous dancer. One day the factory owner catches his wife in the arms of the artist and he drives her out of his home. The artists goes abroad and encounters Lojzka in a foreign city. He falls in love with her but is rejected because she now loves the kind Molnár. (According to an article appearing in the press at the time the film was made.)
