Summary

The film takes place in the 1980s and follows “the private history” of two families in the context of the so-called “great” history – the period of normalization: of the family of a former successful sculptor, who masks his resignation with a Bohemian life-style to the detriment of his wife and children, and the family of the director of a basic school, who is a member of the Communist Party and considers himself to be a “different” communist than the others. The characters’ attempts to cohere to social events, but not to allow themselves to be demeaned by the regime, is the main theme of the story. The film follows the relations of two generations – the adults with the tendency to compromise and the emerging generation seeking its place in society.
