Synopsis

For the thirteenth time already, political agitators from the local railway works arrive in Malá Lhotka, intent on persuading the farmers to form an agricultural cooperative. The leader of the "propaganda team" will not admit defeat and yells at the pitch-black cottages that the activists will be back on Saturday. After their departure the villagers ponder what to do. Finally they accept the seniors' suggestion and join the pilgrimage to Boleslav. When the agitators arrive in the village on Saturday, they discover that the place is empty. They don't give up, and soon they are heading off to join the procession. They march next to "their" villagers with the banners and the figure of the Virgin Mary; then they take the villagers to Kněževes, a perfect cooperative, for a short break, hoping that a good example might break the resistance of the people of Malá Lhotka. The plan fails and the activists continue the pilgrimage. The leader of the "propaganda team" Sadílek finally even takes one of the church banners. At the main road, a bus transporting the railway works employees overtakes the procession. Surprised, their deputy director threatens the agitators with strict penalties. Now the villagers side with "their" agitators and all sign cooperative applications on the spot.
