Synopsis

A committee comes to inspect the prison, and is supposed to stay for the mass. But the prisoner Šejba refuses to serve the mass as the director of the prison doesn't want to give him an extra dumpling for this service. After a long discussion, Šejba gets his way, and the chaplain helps himself to the extra food as well. However, the mass is not held anyway, because the members of the committee, led by the Provincial Councillor, cannot get to their feet after the feast.
