University student Boris Trojan is superficial and frivolous. He wants to get everything without any effort. He manages to get hold of a unique English expert book about Indian music theory and uses it shamelessly during his exams and for writing his final thesis. He lures away his friend Petr's girlfriend Jana. When he meets Dáša, daughter of the influential Dr Landa, he doesn't hesitate in having a relationship with both girls. Boris quarrels with Petr over Jana and cheating on exams and he finally moves off the student hostel to a rented place, persuading Jana to go with him. At first, Jana is enchanted by Boris's big words and his "professional knowledge" but she slowly gets to learn his real nature. One day, Jana and Dáša meet and realize how fake is Boris's magic. Dáša finds the English book in his rented room. She realizes how he gained his expert reputation and decides to inform the professor. Jana returns to the student hostel and to her friends.
