Three Steps from the BodySynopsis
Eternal students Tommy Fikejs and Ferda Říha are flat broke. Their only hope is Tommy's uncle, a millionaire and automobile magnate who lives abroad - but he does not reply to their requests for help. On the day of most abject poverty a notary brings word of their uncle's death and brings the will. Tommy will inherit a great fortune if he marries his cousin Aluška. But if he or Aluška refuses to marry only of them will get the inheritance. They are to meet for the first time in Cannes. Aluška arrives with her aunt, a woman in the best years, who has been fighting men off since her late husband's death. Aluška and Tommy both separately decide to put the other off with their unattractive appearance and conduct, but when they chance to meet on the beach they fall for each other straight away and marriage is in the air. But there will be no inheritance: the notary turns out to have been the rich uncle himself who just wanted to have a laugh at his relatives' expense. As a wedding present he gives them toy cars.
