Synopsis

Kristýnka lives in a workers' colony on the outskirts of a small town. Her beauty has affected all the men living in the district. The girl, who treats them all with the same kindness yet declines all their offers, leaves one day and almost a year passes before she returns. The women in the colony are afraid that their husbands will fall for her again, so they rise up against her. They force their way into her flat but have a change of heart when they see her with a small baby whom she has brought back from the city with her. Kristýnka arouses the curiosity of everyone around her until it is discovered who the father of the child is, and Kristýnka's husband. (Based on press reports of the time)

Workers' colony in a small town. All the men from this town, single or married, workers from the glass factory, freelancers, a postman and a railwayman admire the beauty of a worker’s daughter Kristýnka. All the other women from the colony are jealous of the way the men look at Kristýnka. It escalates at a party in the Fórák, where all the men are interested only in dancing with Kristýnka. Later that night after the party Jozífko sees some man leaving from Kristýnka's place by jumping out of the young girl's window. The whole colony knows about it the next day. The women and the men are very concerned, and they end up fighting with each other. Following this incident, Kristýnka leaves for Prague to stay at her aunt's place until the situation in the colony calms down. Thanks to this Kristýnka's decision can Hanka Černovská get merchant Znamenáček for herself, Zásmucký makes up with his wife and with other couples and the relationship between the fortune teller Zacharová and the railwayman get better, too. After nine months Kristýnka comes back to the colony with her new-born son Karel. When the women of the colony find out, they are ready to banish her from the village. Even though her father tries to protect her, the women burst violently into Kristýnka's room. They eventually change their mind once they see the baby. Later the men from the colony argue over the paternity of the little baby. Since they are all concerned about Kristýnka's reputation, twenty men claim paternity of the baby, including worker Skořepa, married Zásmucký and Náhlík. Everything is explained at the next party in the Fórák. The father of the baby and Kristýnka's husband was shy worker Cápek, who had always been picked on for his shyness and impracticality. With the help of his love for Kristýnka he succeeded to pass his test at work, gained confidence and married her. The young family can finally start living their life and the tensed atmosphere in the workers' colony starts to loosen up. (Based on the original script)

Note

In the spring of 1945 all interior shots were filmed and exterior search was carried out. The exterior shooting was to be carried out in May 1945, but the Prague Uprising made it impossible. The film was planned to be completed by the State Film Production in the Karel Feix Production Group. The script and some of the filmed footage turned out to be inappropriate for the state film production and the film remained unfinished. The filmed footage were not preserved.
