One in a MillionSynopsis
With industrialist Rezeda live his nieces Věra and Stáňa and his nephew Leo, Stáňa's brother. After winning a literary competition Věra obtains a position as an editor of the social section of a magazine. Rezeda's legal representative and Věra's fiancé, JUDr. Zeman is not pleased with this. Věra wants to get to know life from up close. She lies to her uncle by telling him she is going with Stáňa and Leo to the mountains and instead she goes to an employment agency. There Mrs. Nezmarová takes charge of her. She is an energetic lady who has lost all her possessions through the long illness of her husband and now makes a living as an unauthorized street vendor. Leo also wants to get to know a simple life and after a short episode at a construction site he becomes a street singer. Věra and Mrs. Nezmarová are arrested while selling and put in jail. The uneasy Rezeda leaves with JUDr. Zeman to the mountains, but only Stáňa is there. The industrialist reports Věra's disappearance to the police, and the commissioner, who has recognised her from a photograph, releases her. Nezmarová becomes Rezeda's housekeeper. Věra becomes reconciled with Zeman.
